The ultimate athlete mom, Kaillie Humphries, stood on the podium in Milan-Cortina with her son as she became the winningest bobsledder in history.
Six-time Olympic medalist Kaillie Humphries is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and the only athlete to have done so representing two nations. After giving birth to her son in 2024, she returned to elite competition just 18 months later—winning two medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The Comeback They Said Was Impossible
“I was blessed about a year and a half ago to have my son. There was no guarantee I was going to be able to become a mom,” Humphries said.
“For most of my career, I was told, as a female, mostly by males, that I would never get my body back. I would never be able to be high performance, to stand on the Olympic podium again. That if I ever became pregnant and became a mom, my focus would be so distracted that it would never happen.”
Fueled by Motherhood
“And I listened to a lot of people for a long time. And so to be able to know that that is no longer true… to have stood on the Olympic podium to win two bronze medals, my son being a year and a half old—that was a year and a half postpartum—knowing I'm physically in amazing shape, and I can be the best in the world.”
