Here’s what I tell people.
XX-XY Athletics is the only brand standing up for female athletes and the protection of women’s sports.
All the other big athletic brands out there claim to champion female athletes but are either silent on the subject of males entering women’s sports or, in fact, on the wrong side of the issue. How can a brand say that they champion female athletes and be ok with the idea of males stealing trophies, team berths and scholarships from hard working female athletes? They can’t. They are selling out women for wokeness.
We believe that brands can influence culture. And that by wearing the t-shirt or the hat or any item from XX-XY Athletics, and being asked “hey, what does that mean?” and answering honestly, we can together change the conversation. If we wait until this gets to legislation which is where we are, we have lost the battle.
But we can take back truth, if we stand together.
So answer honestly. Say:
- Sex is binary.
- Men cannot become women.
- Women and girls deserve their own sports and spaces.
- Women and girls deserve safety, privacy and fairness.
- Sex is the single biggest determinant of athletic performance.
- If we want to protect the opportunities that Title IX* afforded women and girls when it was passed in 1972, we need to stand up and stand together.
*Title IX is the landmark legislation passed in 1972:
"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
What should I say if the response is: Isn’t that anti trans?
Pro woman/pro girl is not anti-anyone. XX-XY Athletics and I believe that girls and women deserve safety, privacy and fairness. And I am standing up for women and girls by supporting the brand.
Isn’t that bigoted?
It isn’t. Women’s sports exist for a reason. There is no bigger determinant of athletic performance than sex. Title IX was created in 1972 to give women and girls equal opportunity in the education system. This brand is defending that today.
What is your solution? Shouldn’t trans people be allowed to play sports?
Sports are for everyone. People should play either in the category of sex they were born or in an open category. I’m not advocating for exclusion, but women and girls should not have to sacrifice for others to be included.
There are solutions so that everyone can be included. But women and girls should not have to sacrifice their own opportunities so that trans identified males can feel included.
Isn’t this a fringe issue? Why are you making such a thing about this? You’re targeting the most oppressed people. It’s mean.
It’s not fringe. There have been over 700 examples of males stealing opportunities in sports – medals, trophies, team berths, scholarships – from hard working girls and women. And that’s just in the last few years alone. And it is only accelerating. This affects all female athletes. If they don’t have a fair playing field, eventually they’ll stop playing. Wouldn’t you? We can’t let that happen. So stand up. And stand with us.
